FRIDAY THE 4th GET TOGETHER AT SCHOOL
Hi all again! We’re a little more sure of the detail now so here goes………..From 4pm THIS FRIDAY November 4th (thought that was Guy Fawkes but not the case! Guy Fawkes is Saturday) we’ll meet at the school. We’ll have some Halloween games set up for the kids which we can play indoors in the hall if the weather is poor. Fish and chips at any point in the proceedings and we’ll wrap up about 6pm. It’s a lovely opportunity to get together with other families on a Friday arvo with ready made play opportunities for the kids! So come along and dress up in a Halloween outfit or a Racing Hat! See you there!

MOVIE!!!
And we’re here! The big event is on!! That’s a special showing at the Paradiso Cinema, Wanaka (thank you Calum and Andrea) of Horrible Bosses! (I know Wendy’s coming!). At 8pm this evening, Monday 26th September. We do have some people saying they’ll pick up their ticket at the door so we will start with the first portion of the movie – with a wine or a beer for those of you so inclined! – and then we’ll break for pizza and pop back in to the second half with a cookie and nice sobering cuppa!! Can’t wait!
So get there at 8pm, there are still some seats available so you can rock up at the door but the Cinema would LOVE TO KNOW HOW MANY THEY’RE COOKING PIZZA FOR! so if you can collect your ticket before hand, that would be much appreciated, from the school office $25. See you there!
Paradiso Cinema BIG NIGHT OUT
It has been determined!! We have a movie showing on Monday night, at the Paradiso, 8pm, and the movie is HORRIBLE BOSSES. A bit of detail as below:
(R16 Offensive language,drug use & sex content) [2h00]
“A lighthearted, briskly-paced sensibility that proves instrumental in immediately capturing the viewer’s interest, with the charismatic performances going a long way towards perpetuating the film’s pervasively watchable feel…several laugh-out-loud gags & comedic set pieces…a consistently engaging piece of work!” Reel Film Reviews 3/4 “Horrible Bosses gets my vote as one of the best comedies this year…Highly recommended!” A Nutshell Review “Adult without being crass, goofy without being stupid, Bosses is one of the funniest films of the year!” Flicks.co.nz 4/5

Cinema Paradiso BIG NIGHT OUT
The date has been finalised! It was supposed to be week 7 – for all you diarists out there – but things got a little on top of us organisers (Quiz nights, comedy nights, swim club, and -of course – homework!) so we didn’t quite make the deadline. In fact, possibly not a bad thing as we are now moving into the end of the term and boy! Do we need a night out!
So we’re all set for Monday night, September 26th, 8pm. We have yet to announce the movie to be shown but I can assure you, it’ll be a winner! And tickets will be $25 each. This includes your movie ticket, pizza and a cookie. As well as this you can purchase from a wide selection of wines, beers, coffee and teas. There will be an intermission and plenty of mingle time. The kilted warrior may even turn up to point the way to the exits!
We have first dibs on the tickets but, as it was with the Andrew Spiegel cooking evening, if sufficient tickets not sold by the Monday prior (that’s Monday September 19th) the show will be open to the general public.
So we hope to see many of you along. What a wonderful way to get together with other parents without having to talk about school!
Quiz night on August 31st
And we’re going to do it all again! Quiz night on August 31st! We will be calling upon those successful entrants from July!
Mind you, I don’t remember any stand outs! We did decide that we were outnumbered however so would appreciate some BACK UP!! There were teams there with more than 12 people on them! One from each profession and each sporting catagory!! And some of them didn’t win!!! We actually did very well considering! I’m hoping Catherine will save a table again? I’ll try to get Sean along and of course Eddie will be there to answer catagory………….? What is your specialty Eddie? European speed skatwboarding in the 21st Century? Ahm………….. Maybe we can bribe George.
Survivor Camp Eely!
- Hammering those cans and filling with firewood
- Setting up a safe fireplace and waiting patiently for a light
- Getting lit and putting on the food
- No fire without smoke!
Oops!
- How to toast marshmallows!
- How to eat marshmallows!!
- Relaxed in the beaut winter sunshine, fires out.
- Where would you be?
We had a beautiful afternoon. The weather was glorious and we had a few extras who we weren’t expecting – including the fire brigade! We would like to thank the fire men for coming along to check out our suspicious smoke at Eely Point and then for allowing that we were conducting a project to show the kids how to safely make a fire to cook your food. Each of the kids had a turn at hammering holes in their hobo stove and constructing their fire space. I think all the sausages were cooked!? What remained was finished off on the public barbeque. It really is a wonderful spot and how lucky are we to be able to use it!
So next time join us for another adventure…………….! Not sure what it’s going to be yet but we’ll have to have another meeting to sort it out so if you’d like to help us figure a plan, look out for the notice on this blog.
And remember, you can subscribe to this blog using the button at the top of this screen. I think it should be on each page. Or contact us through the Wanaka Primary School Parent Forum. We’d love to have you along.
